Holyoke Firefighters will host a community dinner on Thursday, June 27, 2013, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mater Dolorosa Social Center in Holyoke.
The event will benefit Womanshelter/Compañeras, a battered women’s program serving Holyoke and nine other communities in western Mass.
Firehouse Ciao! features a full Italian meal, including homemade spaghetti sauce, prepared by chefs of the Holyoke Fire Department, a DJ, raffles, and face painting. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and can be ordered in advance by calling Womanshelter/Compañeras at 538-9717 or at the door.
Funds raised through the event will support the shelter and community based services as well as violence prevention programs. Lt. Thomas Paquin of the Holyoke Fire Department, says “Holyoke Firefighters are happy to be participating in this very worthwhile event to help Womanshelter/Campaneras with their fundraising effort. Firefighters are known to be fabulous cooks and are looking forward to this event. Several Holyoke Firefighters will be on hand to assist is food preparation, serving. and cleaning and look forward to seeing everyone there.”
Firehouse Ciao! is expected to draw over 400 people, including firefighters from neighboring towns who hope to sample some new firehouse cooking.
