Sunday, October 27, 2013 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

| Free

Continuing with last January’s popular theme of Canadian immigration, the French Heritage Center is excited to announce the next speaker in the “Rendez-vous” Lecture Series.  Jacqueline (Rioux) Mashia will present “The Rioux Brothers—From Quebec to California” on Sunday,October 27th at 2:00 p.m. in the Elms College Library.  The power point lecture will follow the brothers’ route from Trois Pistoles, Canada to the gold mines of northern California, and feature the harrowing experiences they endured.

Jackie holds a degree in Religious Studies from Our Lady of the Elms College.  She is a professed lay Carmelite, having held many leadership positions, including regional and state Formation Coordinator.  The lecture is based on a diary/journal kept by Martial Rioux, (her great-grandfather) and translated by Jackie.

This enriching, educational lecture is free of charge (donations accepted) and refreshments will be served.
