You may be wondering why your local police and fire personnel are looking a wee-bit scruffy when you see them around town… No, it’s not from months of winter-hibernation — It’s St. Baldrick’s time !!!
We are back and anticipating yet another successful year with our annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation shave-a-thon to be held at Rafters Sports Bar & Restaurant in Amherst. As in the past years, the local police officers, fire fighters, EMS operators, and other public officials will gather to raise money for children’s cancer research. UMass fraternities, student groups, and friends/families who have been touched by these amazing kids battling their illnesses will also be returning to join in the festivities.
What’s the catch? This is a one-of-a-kind fundraising event — our brave participants pay tribute to children with cancer by having their own heads shaved !!! Yes, over 200 men and women had the courage to go completely BALD to stand in solidarity with our honored children. Men and women, young and old – all have been past participants — there are no boundaries and limitations!
All are welcome and this is a FAMILY-FRIENDLY event.
Your support is greatly appreciated in helping to raise money and awareness for such an important cause.
